Why an incubator?
We have created DSS as an incubator, cultivating the conditions for collective evolution.
We are intentionally not an accelerator in an already fast paced world.
With this application extension, we invite in a bit more space, practicing at a pace that reflects the culture we want to see in the world.

We are loving what we are seeing. The applications are grounded, as well as visionary. We understand the importance of gifting yourself some grace and finding the time to intentionally compose your personal share before sending it to our team.

A coheART of care
There are spectrums of ways of knowing and becoming. A decolonial paradigm invites us into the root of the word education, “educare” - meaning to draw forth from within, to guide a more relational, embodied and experiential way of evolving what education can mean.
Inquiry is thoughtful and it takes devotion, and this is why our program offers diverse perspectives and tools. Community members explore the systemic roots of our global situation and together we dream and scheme towards justice. We go deep and far in our adventure together, informing each other of inspirations, realities and we nurture the field of possibilities.
We make it easy to lean in, creating the conditions that help you harness your evolutionary potential.
Each session is recorded, office hours are available. We provide Navigators and other support members to help you access the clarity, assistance and tools you need for your studio journey. In addition, you can fill out integration forms and provide us feedback with how you are doing, and how you’re metabolizing the information on your own time. The current systems are structured to deplete life, we are here to support it. That said, the live sessions are SO FUN, epic, interactive and potent - so joining synchronously is half the magic.
You have to show up for yourself in the studio, to invest in that beautiful vision that only you have, but there is no pass or fail here. This is incubation and it can be intense, but it can also be peaceful. These are complicated times and they require us to do all that we can to shine a light on the quieter voices, the generationally silenced ones and bring them forth.
As part of this incoming coheART you’ll be invited to contribute to our evolving list of values and guiding principles. You’ll hear from indigenous perspectives and reports from boots on the ground - building up resilient food systems and other community-led projects all over the globe. We believe that adding embodiment to this practice, from Wellness Wednesdays to wiggle breaks are just as crucial in helping you, and all of us, get into a space where we feel healthy and nurtured enough to make this adventure life-changing.
Bioregional hubs + popup events
Born during the 2020 confluence of crises, the DSS connected artists and designers in a time of disconnection. We wove a mycelial network to empower creators as catalysts for cultural transformation, fostering resilience and a global commUnity of practice.
From 2023-2025 we launched our bioregional collectives and regional hubs prototyping phase. Entering 2026, we are in process to nurture an expanded, bioregionally focused DSS initiative. We see the potential of DSS creatives exploring connections with local organizations, communities and grassroots activists. These diverse collaborations help address holistic needs and opportunities in the bioregions where we already live, work and play. This involves strengthening partnerships and building new ones through place-based hubs and bioregional groups for collaborative projects and storytelling.
Nurturing this sense of kinship between earth, artists and design scientists we can play a unique role in shaping our bioregional futures. By catalyzing resilience, promoting systemic thinking and embodying radical change to reimagine our path forward we strengthen the DSS community’s connection to local ecologies. Supporting regenerative efforts in different bioregions, the broad cultural reach of the DSS can also help each of us deepen into place. This vital effort roots interdisciplinary, collaborative and creative visions into the practical initiatives that local biospheres need at this crucial moment.
