Design Science Studio Interdependence Summit
July 3–5, 2026 • Gateway Mendocino • Hopland, California
You’re invited to join us for a day or the entire summit as we gather to declare our interdependence.
“The best way to predict the future is to design it.”
— R. Buckminster Fuller
Dear DSS Family and Friends,
Join a special Fourth of July weekend in Hopland with the Design Science Studio where we have prepared a choose your own adventure village to call in a collective vision of the future. Engage with us in serious play and invoke a time where people and planet co-create.
We’re ready to welcome you, even if it’s just for the day, since we want everyone in the DSS community and network to be a part of this Interdependence Summit. The pond by the willows is cool, bring a suit. The potluck is planned for Friday, see below for details.
Not a perfect world. Not a distant utopia. But a living glimpse of what becomes possible when people gather around regeneration, creativity, commUnity and the courage to imagine something better.
From July 3–5, regen·era Rising’s Interdependence Summit transforms Gateway Mendocino, a beautiful solar-powered sanctuary, into a living experiment. A place where artists, designers, educators, systems thinkers, commUnity builders, dreamers and doers gather to explore what becomes possible when we choose collaboration over competition and imagination over resignation.
For three days, the floating city of regen·era comes alive!
You’ll wander through immersive art installations, join hands-on workshops, encounter visionary projects, share meals with new friends, dance beneath the stars and find yourself in conversations that stretch long into the night.
Some people come for inspiration.
Some come for commUnity.
Some come because they sense that another world is possible and want to spend time with others who feel it too.
Whatever calls you, there is a place for you here.
At a time when so much of the world feels fragmented, regen·era is an invitation to remember something deeper: that none of us are separate from one another, from our communities or from the living systems that sustain us.
Through art, dialogue, celebration and shared experience, we’ll explore what it means to move from “me” to “we” and from extraction to regeneration.
Together we’ll ask:
What possibilities are waiting to emerge?
What stories are ready to be rewritten?
And what happens when we stop waiting for change and begin embodying it?
If you’ve been longing for a glimpse of what’s possible, we invite you to come experience it for yourself.
The city is arriving!
We’d love for you to be part of it.
What If the Future Felt Like Coming Home?
Imagine waking to birdsong and sunlight filtering through the trees.
The day unfolds slowly.
A conversation lingers longer than expected.
A stranger becomes a friend.
A question you’ve been carrying begins to shift.
Meals become conversations.
Conversations become friendships.
Friendships become collaborations.
There is no single way to experience regen·era.
Some moments are profound.
Some are playful.
Some are quietly transformative.
But together they create something rare: a space where possibility feels tangible and a more beautiful world feels a little closer at hand.
For one weekend, you don’t just imagine a more beautiful world.
You get to practice living inside it.
From Independence to Interdependence
This year, regen·era arrives during a weekend when much of the United States celebrates independence.
While there is much to honor in that story, we also find ourselves listening for a deeper invitation.
An invitation to remember our interdependence—the truth that none of us thrive alone.
That every meal we eat, every breath we take and every dream we bring into the world is made possible through countless relationships—with other people, with our communities and with the living Earth itself.
At a time when loneliness, polarization and ecological uncertainty seem to be growing, interdependence is not merely an ideal. It is a practice.
A way of relating.
A way of remembering.
A way of building futures that are resilient, beautiful and alive.
Throughout the weekend, we’ll explore these questions through workshops, conversations, art, music and shared experiences. Together, we’ll investigate what becomes possible when we cultivate civic imagination, practice regeneration and shift our focus from individual success to collective flourishing, from scarcity to stewardship and from separation to belonging.
What new possibilities emerge when we recognize that our wellbeing is bound together?
What changes when we stop asking, “How do I succeed?” and begin asking, “How do we thrive?”
These are some of the questions we’ll be exploring together as we celebrate not only our independence, but our profound interconnectedness with one another and the world around us.

Enter the Village
For three days, Gateway Mendocino becomes more than a venue.
It becomes a village.
Mornings begin with coffee beneath the trees and conversations that drift between possibility and practice. Days unfold through workshops, performances, immersive art, worldbuilding experiences and project showcases exploring new possibilities for culture, commUnity and collective flourishing.
Cool off with a swim. Wander through pARTicipatory installations. Contribute to the regen·era newspaper. Discover emerging projects from the Design Science Studio coheART. Join a worldbuilding experience. Follow your curiosity wherever it leads.
As the sun begins to set, the village transforms once again.
Music fills the air.
Campfires gather stories.
New friendships form over shared meals and spontaneous conversations beneath the stars.
Some experiences are carefully designed.
Others emerge naturally through the people who gather.
Together, they create something that feels less like an event and more like a temporary culture—one rooted in reciprocity, civic imagination and the practice of interdependence.
For one weekend, we don’t just talk about regenerative futures.
We get to inhabit one together.
